My friend and I did this excursion as a fun way to transfer from Budapest to Vienna. It was the best excursion we did during our vacation. The tour started off at 9am (as promise) with our tour guide meeting us in our hotel lobby with fresh baked Hungarian biscuits and bottled water that she had picked up for us to snack on during the day. The biscuits were still warm!!! The trip through the countryside was so beautiful and our guide was very knowledgeable of the sites and history we came across. She also spoke English very well so we never had any issues communicating. At the first winery we were greeted with a delicious charcuterie board in addition to the wines we tasted. At the second winery, we toured the cellar and had an unlimited number of tastings (something that we had never experienced in the US). For lunch, we stopped at this amazing restaurant on the side of a hill, located close to an Abbey. It was delicious and gorgeous!I was a little hesitant about the fee since you can easily find cheaper ways to transfer between the cities; however, it was worth every cent. My only regret was not buying more wine!

Our guide Tomas met us at our hotel and after placing our luggage in the van a fantastic day began. We started at a small winery in Etyek which was beautiful and the owner of the winery was very friendly. The wines were delicious as was the cheese plate. We then proceeded to the restaurant at the Panonhalma Abbey. Good food, good company in Tomas and a beautiful view. Oh, and more wine. We then drove to the Esterhazy winery and, you guesses it, had more wine and yummy cheeses. The tour was very interesting and we were not anywhere close to inebriated by the end of the tour. We then walked around a vey pretty little town and saw where the Pan-European picnic was held in August, 1989. We had a personable and interesting tour guide, mostly beautiful weather and we highly recommend this your.

Why get a boring train between Budapest and Vienna when there are so many things to do in between? This was a private transfer and was absolutely fantastic. There are no words to describe how pleased we are with this tour. Tour guide and driver were super friendly, kind and knowledgeable. First stop was at an amazing and beautiful little winery in Hungary in which we tried a lot of delicious wines that they accompanied with a lot of food. Second stop was at a charming little town in Vienna in which we had a very nice lunch in a very nice place. We also visited a beautiful little town by a lake and the place where the pan-european picnic was held this is the event that marked the beginning of the fell of the iron curtain. Finally we went to another winery in Austria. This one was very fancy and modern but very good as well. If you are interested in doing something fun and delicious the traveling between Budapest and Vienna, this is your option!

This trip was literally the highlight of our journey. We took the tour from Budapest to Venna instead of the train....good choice! Our guide Tamas was THE BEST!!!!! He knew wine, he knew Hungarian history. The first little winery we went to, was small yet fabulous.Sorry, but I lost the paper that had all the names!!!!..I am from California wine country, and this litle winery was the real deal! They even had Pinot, and us Napa-Sonoma folks are kind of Pinot snobs....but theirs was special!!! We learned all about Hungarian wines, had a luscious snack in their little tasting toom. PERFECT. Then we went to a fabulous lunch across from a castle, then another winery....good wine, modern facility, and had a tour. Continued our travels to some other quaint spots, and finished off with where the iron curtain fell. Tamas told us the whole story. Almost unfathomable....and this happened in 1989!! I would recommend this tour highly....if you are just wanting a tour of the countryside with some history or if you are a wine lover...this is your tour!!!!
