Dubai Expo 2020 National Pavilions

The Dubai Expo 2020 is an international event which starts on 20 October 2020 and lasts 6 months. More than 190 countries participate in the exhibition, focusing on the future of technology, environment, and innovation. Each country will have its own pavilion where visitors will be able to experience the culture of the country and learn more about their innovative projects. The main purpose of participation in the event is to develop business, search for international partners for various projects and tell visitors more about their country.

France Pavilion

Its design is, first of all, a breathtaking play of artificial and natural light. Due to the constantly changing illuminations, the structure will never be the same for its visitors. Spectacular color combinations will change every season, every day and every hour. From the outside, the building will be covered with solar panels that reflect the French sky. Besides the futuristic part of the site, guests can also walk through a typical French village. Also, they could experience the ambiance of the traditional rural market with its sounds and smells.

Russia Pavilion

There is not much information about this exhibition site yet. However, it is known that its design was created by the architect Choban Speech and Simpateca Entertainment Group. The idea of Russians is to unite international minds and achieve one goal together. Also, according to Expo Dubai 2020, the Russian pavilion will help people "better understand each other despite our differences". By the way, Russia also participated in the competition for the right to host the world exhibition in 2020. However, UAE won this race, gaining 2 times more votes. For a country, such a great opportunity means developing local business, attracting investment and developing the economy.

UK Pavilion

The UK pavilion was designed by a British artist who was inspired by the works of astrophysicist Stephen Hawking. In one of his latest projects, Steven invited the world community to create a global message that will represent our planet if one day we meet another civilization. The site will have a 20-meter high LED facade, which is expected to communicate a specific AI-generated message, created together by Expo’s visitors. Thus, AI technology, future and space travel is the main concept of the United Kingdom national Pavilion.

Saudi Arabia Pavilion

The building will be designed in the shape of a rectangle that stands at its corner and represents a kind of “Window into the Future”. Perhaps this will be one of the most recognizable sites at the exhibition. In addition, it is the second-largest pavilion after one of the UAE. Its design was created by a talented Spanish architect, sculptors, and artist Santiago Calatrava.

Reem Al Hashimy, Director General of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, said: "Saudi Arabia's pavilion will offer visitors an opportunity to experience the country's rich heritage and culture”. The pavilion tells the story that united Emirates wants to be connected with the world community for partnership and cooperation in order to create a better future together. Indeed, the building perfectly expresses the main theme of Expo 2020: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.
Saudi Arabia Pavilion

China Pavilion

This country will welcome visitors in the area made from eco-friendly materials and symbolizing “hope and bright future.” The theme of the pavilion will be focused around the four main Chinese inventions: paper, the compass, gunpowder, and movable-type printing.

Czech Pavilion

The Czech Pavilion will be part of the theme district Sustainability. The best architects of the country worked on this building. Its concept is called “Czech Spring”. According to the Dubai Expo’s website, the pavilion will comprise “fluid lines that flow around rectangular exhibition spaces”.

Also, during the global show 2020, the Czech Republic will present its Solar Air Water Earth Resource system, which uses solar energy to collect water from the air. This water will be used to grow fruit trees in the desert of Dubai. Perhaps this is a revolutionary solution in agriculture, especially for arid countries such as the UAE.

Spain Pavilion

In 2020, Spain will be represented in Dubai by a 9-cylinder structure connected by an iron frame. This project is called "People and Places" and it is based on the use of fully recyclable materials. In addition, the lightweight of these materials makes it easy to dismantle and transport construction.

On 6000 square meters of the area, visitors can walk, dine, have fun and learn more about the culture and history of the country. The theme of the Arabic past in Spain will also be highlighted. So then people can learn more about the 800 years of Islamic rule in the country.

Slovenia Pavilion

As a concept, Slovenia chose a three-story forest, which symbolizes the country as an island of green nature in modern Europe. It will be located on the water, which will occupy the first floor and the central part of the structure. The floating forest is a metaphor for the Slovenian rich nature, numerous rivers, lakes and the sea.

The pavilion of the united states looks like a huge steel rotating cylinder. The most important project that Americans will present to the world’s community will be their hyperloop vehicle. Designed by Virgin Hyperloop One, it is a faster, cheaper, safer and more sustainable way to transport goods and passengers on the ground at the speed of an airplane.

Sweden Pavilion

Architects of this site used in the design elements of the two cultures, the Nordic and Islamic. The main theme of the construction is "co-creation for innovation". Its concept is inspired by the essence of the forest and Swedish nature. The idea is that the forest is a living, creative and interactive system, where all the elements are interconnected. The building will also resemble a tall Scandinavian forest with huge trees staring into the sky. Offices, cafes and conference rooms will be upstairs like real tree houses. Guests of the pavilion will feel like walking along a real forest.

“Norway as a world-leading ocean nation” - said the Norwegians and made a pavilion in the shape of the ocean wave. This country has the intention to take a leading role in solving the problems of the ocean. The search for sustainable solutions and the strengthening of positions in the international arena are the main objectives of Norway’s participation in the Dubai Expo 2020.

New Zealand Pavilion

The shape of the New Zealand pavilion comes from Waka Taonga. These are containers produced by Maori to store precious things in them. Today they symbolize partner relations and the maintenance of traditions. According to the Dubai Expo official website, "The architectural concept uses the waka taonga as a way of bringing people together and it reflects the 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future' theme of Expo 2020. In their sustainable construction, the Dutch will show how water, energy, and food are interconnected. The design of this pavilion was inspired by the ancient Silk Road and it is about exploring light, shadow, water, and wind. The Japan External Trade Organisation said that pavilion symbolizes “the resolutions that can be achieved with harmony between people, ideas and technology". Also, Japan is already preparing for the next exhibition, which they will host in Osaka in 2025.
