Dominando Castle Rock, la destacada posición del castillo hizo que se convirtiera rápidamente en un importante bastión y que innumerables batallas y sitios se libraran aquí.
Mientras camina por su cuenta, lea acerca de algunas de las más importantes batallas que presenció el Castillo de Edimburgo, como la Guerra de la Independencia entre los escoceses y los ingleses en el siglo XIV. El castillo fue recuperado de los ingleses en una atrevida toma bajo la oscuridad por el sobrino del gran Escocés, Robert the Bruce.
Puede visitar lo que quiera dentro del castillo, pero asegúrese de visitar el bonito Palacio Real para ver donde la Reina María de Escocia dio a luz su hijo. Utilice la entrada para acceder al Museo Nacional de Guerra que se encuentra en las instalaciones, donde podrá echar un vistazo a una asombrosa colección de artefactos que documentan 400 años de historia militar escocesa. Entre los principales puntos de interés se incluyen una muestra de espadas de las Tierras Altas espadas y una pintura de La delgada línea roja del siglo XIX del artista escocés Robert Gibb.
Podrá pasar todo el tiempo que quiera dentro del castillo, aunque muchos de los visitantes creen que con 2 o 3 horas es suficiente. What made this trip special was our tour guide David Ross. If you can book with him-go for it. First of all he came in a kilt!! On time and told us history and stories the entire day. Fantastic!! Of course the Castle and town were wonderful to visit. Wish we could have spent more time there. Celebrity Cruise line changed our itinerary and we only had one day instead of two. Wish we were not there during their Festival. It was very crowded in the city. Would love to return and meet up with Mr Ross again to show us more of his beautiful country. He was a great driver and had snacks and drinks for our trip. Thinks of it all!! Perfect day!~~

I was a bit disappointed to be honest - this attraction is definitely overrated, and quite boring. I didn't think there were going to be small museums and exhibitions on the 'castle' , I thought it was just going to be a traditional landmark? Bit of a sell out. Free shot of whisky in the gift shop though!

It’s a large draw in Edinburgh. Go early to save some hassle if you dislike crowds. Either way, they moved the ticket scanning quickly. When inside, and found reading the signs as good as the audio tour. Glad we took the time to explore.

Well worth the time to go and see. The old doors from the dungeons will overwhelm you. Such a beautiful view as well.

This was a completely no hassle way to see the castle. The castle itself is a must-do in my opinion and buying a ticket this way just makes sense.

Was there with my 2 granddaughters who really enjoyed the history of the castle, staff very helpful and friendly, did think the restaurant was a bit costly , 10 for a slice of pizza , cans of coke 1.90 which I do think is a bit steep, but otherwise well worth a visit .
