Annapurna Panorama Trek

Experience one of the worlds most extraordinary countries! This small Himalayan country which is half the size of Colorado is unique in its diversity of cultures, customs, languages, and landscapes. Upon arrival, we will be met by our team who will transfer us to the Tibet Guest House in the tourist district of Kathmandu. We can explore Thamel after lunch and then prepare to depart the next morning for Pokhara. We will y to Pokhara on a 30-minute ight, or we can drive (6 hours by Tourist bus) have lunch, cross fewa Lake and trek up to the International Peace Stupa. There is an excellent view of Machhaupuchhare (22,943 ft.), which in Nepali Machha means sh and pucher means tail so the nickname is sh-tail. Before we leave Pokhara we will visit the Mountaineering Museum. The Annapurna foothills which are north of Pokhara have some of the nest Himalayan views and charming villages. These villages are occupied by the Gurung people, many of whom were Gurka soldiers and Magars who comprise Nepal's largest hill ethnic group. After a 2 1/2 hr. the bus ride, the trek starts at NayaPul and follows a horse-shoe shaped route. Although we do not go above 10,565 ft., the route has some steep ascents and the trip is for strong hikers and one should have good endurance and be in good health. Most lodges have rooms with twin beds and several have western style toilets. Some even have private baths, but it is best not to be overly optimistic. The central room where trekkers gather is heated and quite comfortable. The bedrooms are not heated so layered clothing is essential.
