Stop At: Windsor Castle, Castle Hill, Windsor SL4 1PD England

Meet your guide and small group at a central London location in the early afternoon. Then, board a train to the historical town of Windsor, situated on the River Thames east of London. Hear about Windsor’s proud royal history during the journey, and on arrival, set off into the charming streets with your guide.

Stroll down cobbled lanes past half-timbered Tudor houses as your guide sheds light on the town’s past, and world-famous landmark, Windsor Castle. Hear how William Shakespeare set his play 'The Merry Wives of Windsor’.

Next, visit Windsor Castle, Europe’s longest occupied royal palace, and a residence of all British monarchs since Henry I. Today, Queen Elizabeth II favors the castle as a weekend retreat. Enjoy an audio-guided tour of the opulent State Apartments, where visiting dignitaries are welcomed in halls hung with priceless works by artists including Rembrandt and Rubens.

See Queen Mary’s Doll's House, a miniature version of an aristocratic house, and visit St. George’s Chapel, a Gothic masterpiece that houses a number of royal tombs including that of Henry VIII. Your tour concludes when you leave the castle. With your flexible train tickets, opt to return to London straight away or to linger in Windsor further before catching a later return train at your leisure.

The guide was very welcoming - we were only 3 in the group - and was full of information. He was absolutely superb. We got to the train, and took off. It was a lovely ride, and the guide pointed out many interesting things. We were delayed on the way because of a problem at one of the stations, but the guide kept us entertained the whole time. When we got to the Castle, and because he could not come in with us, he pointed out the route that we should take, and mentioned many interesting things to look out for, and then left us. He was amazing. I would definitely recommend this to followers of the royalty..

Our guide, Danielle, was really enthusiastic and fun. This is really a terrific tour, and was one of the highlights of our London trip. I don't give out 5 stars very often, but this trip is worth doing. You really could spend a whole day at Windsor; we did feel a bit rushed, but still terrific!

Sounded like it would be a great tour, but I think it started too late. We got to the castle at 3:30pm. By the time we made it through security and got our headsets, it was 3:45pm. We had to race to get to the chapel before it closed at 4pm and rushed through it to make the state rooms. We stayed in the states rooms for about an hour. When we got out, the doll house was closed. So we really didn't get to finish the tour, which was disappointing. The tour guide should have known this. Also the tour around the town is just a walk to the castle while the tour guide talked. Honestly, it would have been better and cheaper for us to just take the train on our own and left earlier.

So happy we did this! Our British tour guide was knowledgeable and funny, she answered all our questions, and also gave our good addresses for our stay in London. The tour was so well organised, no waiting around. Windsor was gorgeous, inside and out with beautiful gardens and view on the country side. Afterwards, we even stayed for a pint and to visit this lovely town. Highly recommend!
