Spartacus tour: Rome to Ancient Capua and Pompeii

The Ancient Amphitheatre is probably the oldest gladiators Arena of the Roman Empire and the second largest after the Colosseum in Rome to which it served as model.

You will explore the extraordinarily well preserved subterraneans and the rooms where animals where kept before being brought up to combat through elevators and trap doors. This is a very important Amphitheatre in history and it is also where famous gladiator Spartacus used to fight and started his rebellion against the Roman Army.

Next to the amphitheater there is the Museum of the Gladiators, where decorations of limestone and marble of the amphitheater are exposed, with mythological subjects and scenes of everyday life realized in the first half of the 2nd century AD; a diorama with gladiator mannequins and weapons will make you imagine the arena environment.

After this first visit, you will have the chance to enjoy your lunch tasting local delicious specialties especially the "bufala"cured meat and mozzarella. This worldwide popular Italian cheese was invented in this area so you will enjoy the real flavors! That's only an option and it is not included in the price of the tour.

You will reach then Pompeii, where will have the chance to discover and to learn how ancient Romans used to spend their days, how they used to have fun, which where the most important business of that period. Highlights of the tour include: the original theatre; The Forum; The Odeon; the gladiators’ barracks; the ancient thermal baths and the “Red Light District”
