Hacer una visita guiada es la mejor manera de ver las enigmáticas ruinas de Pompeya, el mayor yacimiento arqueológico de Europa. Su visita guiada a Pompeya (unas dos horas) le llevará al Foro Romano, las termas, la Casa de los Vetti y el Lupanare, enterrados bajo cenizas volcánicas desde la erupción del Monte Vesubio en el 79 d.C.

Después de un descanso de una hora para disfrutar de un delicioso almuerzo a base de pizza, subirá a bordo del autobús para el trayecto al Vesubio, para ver con sus propios ojos el origen de la devastación que destruyó la ciudad de Pompeya hace casi dos mil años.

Si lo desea, podrá subir al Vesubio (unos 45 minutos) acompañado de su guía, y caminar alrededor del cráter a 1.200 metros de altura. Desde la cumbre tendrá vistas panorámicas de la espectacular Bahía de Nápoles de este a oeste. Si se asoma a las profundidades del cráter, podrá ver columnas de vapor alzándose de las entrañas del volcán, dormido pero aún activo.

Para realizar la subida será necesario tener un nivel de forma física de medio a alto. No se olvide de traer calzado cómodo para caminar. Hay un lugar de descanso, donde puede quedarse a esperar a su grupo si no desea completar la subida hasta la cima.

nos aseguraremos de que regrese al puerto de Nápoles a tiempo para esta actividad. En el raro caso de que su barco ya haya salido, le organizaremos el transporte al puerto de la próxima escala. The tour and the timing of the tour were great. You see the sites you need to see, you have a decent lunch and the we were back to our ship on time. The guides were knowledgeable and spoke clearly and the technology (microphones, etc) worked well. My only complaint was the lack of clarity on the meeting point to start the day. The port in Naples is insane when a ship arrives. Tour companies and taxis are climbing all over each other. There were not detailed instructions on where we would meet in this mayhem or how the tour would identify itself. So, one family was lost and late causing the whole tour to start about 15-20 minutes late. Other than that, I would certainly say the tour was well executed and would recommend it.

We started out as a small group from our ship but then wasted 25 minutes waiting at the train station for a family of four. Once we got to Pompeii, we were merge with more people to form a very large group. Our guide did a good job of explaining things, but it wasn't at all what we thought it would be. Then more than 50 of us walked to lunch, which was one pizza or one spaghetti plus 1 drink. Okay, but not really great. They transported us to Mt. Vesuvius and dropped us off. If you wanted to walk to the top, fine. If not, you could set and wait. You could get water on the bus for 1Euro a bottle. Then they drove us back to the port. The best part was the pick up and drop off were right outside the port. It was great to see the sights, but you need to know what "all inclusive" means and what you do and don't get.

This tour picked us up at our ship's dock at 9:45am, much later than every other tour we had on a 12 day cruise. We then proceeded to spend another hour picking up various other tour participants at hotels all over the city. The tour of Pompeii was a very nice overview, but if you really want to see it in depth, you will need more time. We then had a nice lunch and got to have original Neapolitan pizza and wine (there were other choices for those not wanting pizza). We then took a long drive to Mt. Vesuvius (the hike did not start at the bottom). We were given very little time to hike to the top, so it was rushed (and difficult, and I'm an experienced hiker). They put me and my family back on a separate van to ensure we got back to our ship on time (we had to be back by 5:30pm), which I appreciated, but that gave us even less time than everyone else. I would have enjoyed Vesuvius much more had we not been so rushed. This tour needs to start at least an hour earlier than it did.

We were very excited to visit Pompeii and Vesuvius. This excursion was disorganized and therefor rushed. Due to the disorganization we did not have adequate time at Vesuvius. We felt passed from one guide to another who seemed put out to deal with English speaking tourist. The sites were fantastic, but the tour was not.

We got off the ship and waited with our group for the last family. A family of 6 who then didn’t fit on the bus. So we left them. I assume they went on a different bus. The bus was fine. The guide didn’t really keep us entertained. She didn’t go over any facts so we sat in silence for most of the time til we reached Mt Vesuvius. I proceeded to go buy the tickets So we waited for longer The hike was great although their was no guide arranged. When we asked for one he sat and began to show us pictures clearly not wanting to take us on the tour to the top. We left after 10 minutes sitting on the side since we only had 30 minutes left to reach the top. We made it and took pictures. Then went to lunch food and restaurant were great. Then our guide left and they made us wait for another group for over 30-45 minutes after eating. Was a waste of time. We could have spent at Pisa. The tour at Pisa was great. They got us to the ship just on time. The lunch and Pisa were great. A lot of wait around down time that was wasted because of their disorganization.

Wear your walking shoes and be prepared to walk on uneven stone roads. What a wonderful adventure into history. Loved our tour guide who wore high heel boots during our excursion. She gave us a super history lesson and was so much fun to be with this day.

absolutely fabulous. so worth it. very educated English speaking tour guide. other travelers with other tour companies complained that their tours were to big. all of our tours through Viator were small and very personable. I would book all these tours 100 times over again. these tours made our trip as fabulous as it was. thank you Viator

LOVED this tour! It was a full day -- essentially half at Pompeii and half at Mt Vesuvius with a fabulous Italian lunch in between at a nice restaurant. Super happy we booked through Viator vs. the cruise line and the excursion was very well organized and comfortable. Lot's of walking in Pompeii and climbing at Mt Vesuvius, but both are MUST sees. I really recommend, tour guide was fantastic.
