Excursión a las cascadas de la garganta del río Columbia y Monte Hood
Esta es una excursión de un día completo, por lo general se realiza desde las 9.00 h a las 16.30 h. Saldremos del centro de Portland y nos dirigiremos hacia el este a lo largo del río Columbia hasta Troutdale, conocida como la puerta de entrada a la garganta. Tomaremos la bonita Historic Columbia River Highway, la primera carretera panorámica planificada de los Estados Unidos hasta nuestra primera parada del día: Crown Point. Este famoso mirador se encuentra a 733 pies por encima del río Columbia, los restos de una colada de lava que arrasó la Garganta hace 14 o 17 millones de años. Aquí, nos encontraremos con impresionantes vistas en 180 grados de la garganta del río Columbia y exploraremos Vista House. Un observatorio y museo con un intrincado diseño, Vista House, se encuentra en el Registro Nacional de Lugares Históricos.
Desde allí, nos dirigiremos hacia la zona panorámica nacional del río Columbia. Nuestra primera cascada del día será la espectacular Latourell Falls, que se sumerge 249 pies ante una enorme muralla de basalto. Dependiendo de la temporada, una caminata por un corto camino pavimentado de 0,40 km le llevará hasta un punto donde podrá obtener una vista más cercana de las cascadas.
La siguiente cascada que visitaremos será Multnomah Falls. Con una profundidad de 620 pies en dos tramos importantes, Multnomah Falls es la cascada más alta de Oregón y la segunda más alta del país. Aquí, exploraremos el Multnomah Falls Historic Lodge (una cabaña de piedra y madera de estilo cascadiano construida en 1925), así como las bonitas Multnomah Falls en sí. Durante el incendio de la garganta de 2017, la brigada forestal luchó incansablemente y, finalmente, salvó este monumento histórico. La plataforma de observación fácilmente accesible ofrece una vista completa de Benson Bridge y cascadas detrás de ella.
Seguiremos hasta Hood River, también conocida como la capital del mundo, haremos una pausa de una hora para disfrutar con la oportunidad de explorar la ciudad y almorzar. Tras el almuerzo, saldremos hacia el sur, a través de la pintoresca ruta de campos de lavanda y plantaciones de Fruit Loop. Si el tiempo lo permite, puede que incluso se hagamos una breve parada en uno de los puestos de las granjas.
Continuando, seguiremos nuestro camino, subiendo a unos 6.000 pies de altitud, a Timberline Lodge. Este monumento histórico nacional se asienta en el pico más alto de Oregón, el pico del Monte Hood. El Monte Hood, que atrae a más de 10.000 escaladores cada año, es un mamut digno de ver. Haremos un recorrido a pie por el interior del refugio y disfrutaremos de las vistas de los alrededores de la Cordillera de las cascadas desde los patios del refugio. Si el tiempo lo permite, haremos una breve caminata dirigida por su guía hasta el Pacific Crest Trail que cruza justo por detrás del refugio.
Después de la excursión de un día completo de aventuras, volverá a Portland (aproximadamente 1,5 horas).

Zeke, our guide, is very knowledgeable, friendly and interested in ensuring that his guests have a terrific time. He has a lively and engaging personality, and talked about Portland, its history and the sites we were going to see in a way that was interesting and easy to understand. We had plenty of time for photos and walking around at each stop. The trip was well-planned and the bus was clean and comfortable. Great job, Zeke, and thanks to Wildwood Tours!
We did the all day tour. It was excellent!! Our tour guide, Deana, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She even assisted with taking photos if requested. I would take a tour with her again. The tour had a good pace of driving and stopping for photos, etc. Timing seemed just about right. We would highly recommend this tour. It was certainly one of the highlights of our two week trip in Oregon and Washington!!

Me and my friends had a great time. We had plenty of time to admire the waterfalls. Our guide was amazing. He told us so many facts about Oregon and its history. He also was great because most of the van was sleeping, but he was still engaging for the few that remained awake. He also had great recommendations for lunch and cool tips for photographs etc...
This tour was the best day we had in Portland. We were fortunate to have a very knowledgeable and passionate tour guide in Will. We were entertained by Will’s anecdotes about the history and geography of Portland while seeing the scenic sites on and off the road. It was a worthwhile and meaningful experience!
Trip was informative and an excellent intro to the area. Lots of beautiful scenic routes. Only thing I would add is perhaps to allot more time at the Timberline lodge in order to explore Mt. Hood a bit closer. Overall Highly recommended.
This trip, though long was full of great things to see and do. The guide, Nicholas, was knowledgeable and kept us entertained during the time between stops.
Everything about this tour delivered! The scenery (waterfalls, Mt Hood, Hood River, etc.) was beautiful. Our guide (Devon) was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable with a clear passion for the job. I highly recommend this tour to any Portland visitors- it will not disappoint.

This was an enjoyable, relaxing way to spend the day. With a small vehicle it was easy to get in and around to have a close up view of the waterfalls, Vista Pointe and Mt. Hood. The tour guide, Aaron was very friendly and knows the history of the area very well. He did an excellent job and would recommend asking for him. A not to be missed trip when you visit the Portland area
